LIVE Tuesday July 2nd at 8pm CST host Christopher Jordan is joined by surfing enthusiasts Johnny Spicher and and Kris Wolfe to discuss a life spent surfing and the hunt for the next Big Kahouna and the rise of the non-coastal surfer.
For years the world of surfing has been in eye of the public. Since the release of Endless Summer in 1966 surfing has been seen as a sport of wizardry and art. One man as one with the ocean. Becoming one with the wave. Being one with the board. But it is far more than just mere sport…it is a metaphor for life. For surfers, riding is existence itself. Surfing is life and life is surfing.
Our culture has been permeated by surfing. From the “Shaka” sign, to phrases like “Hang Loose” and terms like “bail”, popular music, skateboarding, snowboarding, clothing and even car design, surfing has been a literal birthing ground for subcultures across the globe for decades. But what about the next generation? What about the future of this most excellent of sports pitting man against nature? With the birth of surf parks axcross the country, even in land locked states, the landscape is now wide open for the next surfing superstar to take the throne from somewhere like Montana or Iowa. What does this mean for the future of surfing? How do we begin the search for these new champions of water and wave? That is exactly the mission of our guests Kris Wolfe and Johnny Spicher. Welcome soon to the broadcast airwaves the first surfing based reality show!
