In this episode of the Dudes n Beer podcast host Christopher Jordan takes some time to tip his hat to tradesmen and their crafts as we discuss the return of the American craftsman with Marc Marchand of Marchand Heritage Brooms.
What is it about a handmade object? Whether it’s a child’s toy, a quilt or in this case a broom, why are people all over the country and even the world returning to items crafted by men instead of machines? How can a simple object like a broom and the process of making one be a not only a metaphor for life, but a way in which to live it? How can the traditional trades of our forefathers bring to light a new path in our modern society?
Marc Marchand is an old soul trapped in modern times. A librarian by training and a director of both parks and library services in north Texas, he shares his passion for lifelong learning, the outdoors, history, and music by learning skills that are at risk of being lost on the next generation and promptly turning around and sharing it with anyone who is willing to learn.
